Patanjali eight fold path
Patanjali eight fold path is a very scientific way to know the God. ( union with God ) or ( make god is life purpose )
Follow Patanjali eight fold path with a good Guru is advisable
These are the eight paths
1.Yamas.
2.Niyama.
3.Asana.
4.Pranayama.
5.Pratyahara.
6.dharana.
7.Dhyana.
8.Samadhi.
1.Yama and Niyama's
Both Yama and Niyama's are very important it is a basement of the higher consciousness, It is not only for Yogi's and monk's, it's applicable to anyone.
For example: if you are not speak truth in your office, others will find it on one day and your bad character may be lead to loss your job.
Another important aspect in the Yama is "Brahmacharya" many peoples the brahmcharya is only for monk's, But it's applicable to everyone, see chapter 11 in think and grow rich book. ( nepolian hill says without sexual restraint you have very less chance for success in life)
But normal peoples ( apart from monks, Yogi's ) how to benefit from it.
Let see the sex sample consciously.
Example: if a college student spend a lot of time to see the girls ( or ) boys, and think about it, speak about it with his by her friends then how he is successful in his study and career. (Also one side love is very dangerous)
The very good way to get benefit from brahmacharya is always think about God and medited about God ( even you can think about other things, for example: if you are a scientist then think about the research on full time ), even in a dream during the night your thoughts must be in your control.
This time the normal peoples don't have time to think about sex, so the sexual energy is sublimated to other form of energy.
Example: if you think about God all times then you now do meditation practice aggressively, in a scientific research you have more time to research without distractions so now you have more chances to succeed.
Sigmund Freud also speak about the power of supplementation and the necessity of sublimendation in psychology.
In thirumoolar thirumandiram thirumoolar is also tells about the importance of sexual vital fluid.
3.Asanas.
Humans cannot reach there samadhi state in a few days or months, so we need the physical body until we reach the samadhi state,
So the asanas are there very perfect way to maintain the physical body healthier and stronger,
The main objective of asanas are train your body to meditate long time, ( meditate many hours without damaging the body )
And also during the practice of asana you have take the full control over your body.
4.Pranayama.
See the previous blogs, pranayama is also helps to train the body to reach there state of samadhi.
5. Pratyahara.
Pratyahara is also known as withdrawal of senses
This means in this stage you have a full control on your five senses.
For example: even in a noisy market you have been easily meditate without any troubles,
This step is mainly used to remove the outer world triggers.
Example: you sit and start to meditate, suddenly you feel the Biryani smell then your mind tells you to go and eat biryani if you switch off your senses this problem is eliminated.
6.Dharana.
Dharana is a process of concentration,
In previous stages you have master your body and five senses now you fight against with your mind on the inner battleground.
You need the courage to bring your mind back do the meditative object ( God, Breathing,Light of third eye, Aum sound etc).
And this bring it back process continue on infinite times you need more awareness and patience on the stage.
Warning:
After completing this stage you have some magical powers, and super human powers. This powers are only provide you for checking purpose ( whether you eligible to samadhi or not ).
7.Dhyana.
In this stage the bring it back processes is over now you have the ability to concentrate more time on the meditative object,
For Example: you sit meditation on without any thought disturbance.
Without dhyana you are not able to go to the last State of samadhi.
8.Samadhi.
The samadhi state is not explainable in words, I am now only able to explain the types of samadhi
1.Savikalpa samadhi.
2.Nirvikalpa samadhi.
If you follow the other steps correctly then you automatically reach to the state of samadhi.
At this time you know what is samadhi ( after follow the first seven steps ) .
Thank you
Ram
